California earthquake reported north of Monterey location

An earthquake at first determined at magnitude 4.5 rattled Northern California on Saturday night, according to reports.

The quake was felt throughout much of the San Francisco Bay Location, the Mercury News of San Jose reported.

The center of the quake was near Aromas, about 30 miles northeast of Monterey, according to the U.S. Geological Survey website.

No tsunami was anticipated to arise from the quake, the National Weather condition Service composed on Twitter.

Injuries or significant structural damage arising from the quake were not right away understood.

The Mercury News reported the quake as a 4.2 shaker, somewhat less effective than a 4.3 quake that struck the exact same area Jan. 2. The 2 quakes were the greatest in California in 2021, press reporter Robert Salonga tweeted.
